Maya Road and Basic Grey AirMail

Hello All, As you all know we are showcasing Basic Grey and Maya Road this month. Both excellent companies with amazing product. I decided to make a piggy bank out of one.
This Project I used Basic Grey Indian Summer Line and Maya Road Airmail.
Supplies I used
Indian summer Woolies
Basic Gray Indian Summer PP
BG Cedar
Maya Road Air Mail
Prima E Line pearls, Pink Paislee Pixie Stix, TA Peppermint Stick, Fabric Tac, Diamond Glaze, Wooden thread spools, Wood stain, and a Mirror for the base.

I stained the wood spools and glued them all on top of each other. Then I sanded the mirror in the center and glued the spools to the mirror. (Sanding gives the glass texture.) Also an extra tip, to strengthen the stack of spools I used a wooden dowel down the center.

I then sprayed the Maya Road AirMail with Tattered Angels Peppermint Stick Glimmer Mist. It works very well on the Chipboard. Then you can cut a slit in the top of the mail box. The front flap fits tight enough to hold in your change.

Then once the hard work was over I started on the fun stuff. Made spiral flowers out of BG PP. And cut different sized four petal flowers and stacked them. Hand drawing flowers like these, gives them a fun funky feel. And they DO NOT have to be perfect!!
I also tried a new flower. I took a two inch wide by seven inch long piece of paper and folded it in half long ways. Then you cut at the seam every 1/4" ,three quarters of the way down. Once your slits are cut Start at one end and spiral it around to create the petals of the flower. On this project they are the orange/red flowers.

I covered the Mailbox flag with diamond glaze and then covered it with Pixie Stix Bubblegum.I put two coats to make sure it covered all of the chipboard. I also doodled some with a white and black pen.

These Products worked soo well together. The Air Mail even comes with a chipboard album inside. So you really get two projects in one. Thank You all for stopping by ScrapGal. Don't forget to get involved in this months contest. Have a wonderful weekend!!! :)

Lift Yourself

As scrapbookers we are often lifting someone else's layouts when we need inspiration. So instead of lifting others, this week I'd like you to lift yourself. Choose a layout that you have done in the past and lift it into a new layout. I'll start a thread in the Challenges Forum. And if you complete this challenge and post both the original and new layout to that thread by next Wednesday, December 9th, I'll draw a random winner for a RAK from me. Have fun!
Here's mine.
This first layout I did in March 2009.

And here's my lift.

Mittens & Things

I made this little bucket(from the Target $1 bin) using BasicGrey's Eskimo Kisses, my Slice and the FaLaLa cartridge, some Maya Road acrylic snowflakes, and some Pink Paislee Pixie Stix! It was quick and easy and now I have something for the entry for all the gloves and hats that the kids (and my husband) throw down.

For the mittens, I used the FaLaLa card for my slice, set it to 3 inches and cut 3 of each mitten and adhered them together, making it more sturdy, almost chipboard thickness.

Here is a close up of the snowflakes. I gave them a thick coat of Glossy Accents, and then sprinkled them with the glitter. After that dried, I did it one more time, for good measure, and let it dry over night.

These would make great ornaments, add them to some garland, or you could even embellish a wrapped gift!
Thanks for stopping by the GalBlog! Have a great day!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Last month, we started a little feature we call "this is how we do it." Basically, a couple of your Gal DT girls take a couple of the same products and show you what they look like! Sometimes it's hard to get a feel for something that may not be your "style" but once you see them on a project, light bulbs go off!

This month, we chose this blue paper by jillibean soup, some queen and co felt, and maya road snowflakes.

Kelly busted out the Glimmer Mist and used snowflakes as a mask! So cool! I also love those thickers! I have the same pack but have had a hard time using them because the blue is such a bright color. Duh, I didn't even think about using them! I also really love the white space in the photo AND on the page.

And mine, I used some nutmeg "spinach" thickers, a TON of the Jillibean soup paper. My photo is OLD and not great quality, so I wanted to have more going on since the photo wasn't a riveting focal point! I also broke apart my maya snowflake piece so that it kinda looked like they were falling on the page. I lined them with some smooch (look for some coming to the store soon!) That little eye chart? That is the backside of the dot paper!

Hope you enjoyed this month's "This is how we do it!" Grab some Jillibean Soup paper and Maya Road snowflake keychains and show us how you do it!

Have a Happy Thanksgiving, Enjoy this time with friends and family. Be thankful for what you have... life, liberty, and the freedom to pursue your own happiness! It doesn't get any more basic than that!

6x12 Inspired Christmas Card

Did you know Bazzill 6x12 rectangle cardstock is the perfect base for a card? For this card I used the yummy dotted swiss rectangles as my starting point. I purchased the Bazzil Christmas Just the Edge strips with the idea of easy card embellishing. On this card I combined the tree one with a couple cut outs from the snowflake one. I added a few other embellishments and punched shapes and viola, easy and fun Christmas card.

Counting Down to Christmas...

It's only a month (and one day) away before Christmas and there's still so much to do and among that list is planning my christmas vacation! But before disappearing to either Bali or Australia or somewhere, I've been busy putting together little surprises for my dear friends. Figured that instead of the christmas cards, will be sending these cute snowflakes tags...
Here's a close up of the tags. For the effect on the alphas, I had first inked the maya road chipboard alphas and then covered them with the distress stickles - rock candy from ranger. Then to add some glimmering effect to the papers (don't you just love these papers from pink paislee - mistletoe and co collection), I dusted them with pearly accents powder. For the smaller snowflake chipboards (also from maya road), I had embossed them with the ranger "snowflakes" embossing powder - just love all the glitter. And most of all, what christmas could be complete without a little bit of bling and pearls (*hint hint to my husband*) - jewel brads from american crafts and pearl trinket pin from maya road.

ps. Unfortunately these tags don't fit in my christmas boxes that I shared in my previous post and therefore still try to figure out what to put inside them... help! (any suggestions are welcome).

Thanks again for dropping by and don't forget to stop by tomorrow for the black wednesday sales!!!

It's beginning to look a lot like....

Christmas!!

Seriously, where did this year go?! This weekend I wanted to decorate for Christmas but I couldn't convince my husband to pull out the boxes and tree from the attic. So, instead, I Christmas Scrapped!!

Here are some of the fabulous new products you can pick up in the shop.

This layout uses the Pink Paislee Mistletoe and Co. line. I paired it with some fabulous Prima Flowers that weren't exactly the right color, but I changed them with a little ink and Glimmer Mist.

The picture is from 2007, before I started printing all my photos matte instead of glossy and it had some scratch damage. I used a buffer to scratch up the rest of the photo and then brushed Tim Holtz Color Wash over the entire photo. I love the vintage outcome!!

Also in store is Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses

Here's a quick layout showing off that line!!

How adorable is that little Feltie Deer?!

Happy Monday to you all and I hope I've inspired you to get last years Christmas Photos scrapped.
